SOUTH BELFAST YOUTH LEAGUE UNDER 12

After weeks of games being off due to bad weather Ards Youth U12s travellled to Henry Jones to take on table topping Eddie Irvine Sports.
Having played Irvines on a few occasions we new this was going to be a very tough game.From the start Ards were under pressure and only for some strong defending from Jonny Finlay and Josh Allen they could have been 3 down in the first 5 minutes. Ards did have there chances to go ahead with Curtis Johnston firng wide after a great throgh ball from Jason Thompson.The Ards midflied of Crenshaw Palmer and Thompson were putting it some great tackles to stop the Irvines attack but on 16 mins a long ball over the top caught the Ards defence out and the striker made it 1 nil Irvines. On 18 minutes Irvines were to make it 2.0 nil with a well worked goal down the left.  Irivines then tried to kill the game of with attack after attack but Cruze Dorrian in goal  was to have one of those days were save after save kept Ards in the game until half time.

The second half was to start with Ards working hard in midfield and a ball over the top sent Curtis Johnston through only for him to be pulled down just a he was to unleash his shot (penalty ) but  the ref called play on and striaght from that Irvines caught Ards on the break to make it 3.0.
Ards were tiring and Irvines then went on to make it 4 and just before full time they made it 5.0.

The 5 nil scoreline did not reflect how well the boys played today.Having only played 2 games since the middle of December this was always going to be tough and with some hard work we will only get better.
